NIB, SDL, API, CIA, KGB, LSD...

NIB is short for NeXT Interface Builder, the GUI portion of the old NeXT IDE which Apple's XCode is built from (the other portion being Project Builder). One (the previously standard) Mac version of Aleph One uses the Interface Builder API like a normal Mac OS X non-game application, and is thus called NIBs, to distinguish it from the one that uses the Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL) API for all it's screen draws.

I'm not sure what the small 's' in NIBs is for. Gregory?

Disclaimer: I am not a programmer, I was merely a rabid Apple fan during the NeXT buyout days and a Mac tech and salesperson for a few years after that.
