As I understand it, the Scripts folder is supposed to contains the file Text_Strings.mml, which includes the names/paths of the data files Aleph One looks for before it starts. Are the names of the files consistent with what the MML says? Are any of the files obviously messed-up, like having a size of 0?
Also: You downloaded the Mac version of Infinity, not the PC version, right?
We don't really discuss the story that much here, as you can see from reading the forum index. Despite the name, it's the only Marathon forum on Bungie.org, so we use it for anything remotely related to Marathon. In fact, since everyone knows each other by now, we pretty much talk about whatever we feel like.
: My apologies for this not being about the story - But it frustrates me.
: There's absolutely no help, or no obvious troubleshooter for help on
: installing Aleph One. I have the download, I have a full version of
: Infinity, and yes, I'm using MacOS X. All the directions I see are to: a)
: download Aleph One, and b) place it in the games folder containing
: Infinity. Fine, I did that, and it still gives me the error message of
: "Please make sure your shapes, sounds, etc. are all installed
: properly and try again." What the hell? I have no idea how I'm
: supposed to get this to work. My understanding is that Aleph One allows
: you to use Infinity without the use of classic, not to mention cleaning up
: the engine and tweaking, and making things look and feel cooler. I'd
: really like to use it, but there's no support, and frankly, I don't know
: who else to ask.
