: My apologies for this not being about the story - But it frustrates me.
: There's absolutely no help, or no obvious troubleshooter for help on
: installing Aleph One. I have the download, I have a full version of
: Infinity, and yes, I'm using MacOS X. All the directions I see are to: a)
: download Aleph One, and b) place it in the games folder containing
: Infinity. Fine, I did that, and it still gives me the error message of
: "Please make sure your shapes, sounds, etc. are all installed
: properly and try again." What the hell? I have no idea how I'm
: supposed to get this to work. My understanding is that Aleph One allows
: you to use Infinity without the use of classic, not to mention cleaning up
: the engine and tweaking, and making things look and feel cooler. I'd
: really like to use it, but there's no support, and frankly, I don't know
: who else to ask.
This is a good place to ask - this forums isn't so much about the story anymore, as it is a general Marathon forum. Welcome :-)
As for your problem, what you've described sounds like the right procedure, and I'm not sure why it's not working. Aleph One is basically a replacement for the Infinity application - drop it in and launch it and it should run fine. When you try to run Infinity itself (assuming you've got Classic on your machine), does it work? If not, then the problem's not with Aleph, but something else. Get back to us about that any maybe someone might be able to figure something out.
Also, you can contact the developers directly at... I think it's marathon-support@sourceforge.net, or some such. There should be a link from source.bungie.org somewhere.
