Oh, and I just remembered- 10 people telling one story each for ten days makes 100 stories in total. Around that time, Dante's Divine Comedy had 100 cantos too, and it was arranged in 1+33 33 33 (1 introduction, 33 Hell, 33 Purgatory, 33 Heaven). WTFness.

Yehh, well, more interesting tidbits. I quote G.H. McWilliam's notes- The se7en ladies were thought to symbolize the four cardinal virtues (Prudence, Justice, Temperance, Fortitude), and the three theological virtues (Faith, Hope, Love)... ... the three young men...division of the soul into Reason, Anger, and Lust.
