One thing I can think of...
How many of this enemy type of monster are there on the map? The game will let you leave if there's eight or less "enemies" (according to player physics), counting them as "exterminated" in the case. If there's very few and/or all have to be killed, put eight more of them in an inaccessible secret area (but still have them activated) and then you'll have to kill *all* of the remainder in order to leave.
