Well, as the resident looney who is trying to run said MUD, may as well throw my bit in ;)
I have a plan. Quite a good plan. Top secret, too, but it's still a plan, honest. To you non-believers, though, combat and non-combat environments can co-exist quite happily on the same MUD. For an example, look to the MUD who's codebase I'm cannibalizing, Shadows of Isildur. It can be done, the hard part is matching the awesome.
As it stands, the codebase is rather unspoilt by my probing hands. Soon, however, various species of nasties are going to be created, then pit against each other in a dripping arena of DEATH. Not long after which comes the weapons, items and worlds that we all love so much.
The main point of inspiration is my other unfinished baby, Marathon =I=. I'm sure all of two of you have seen it, but hell, check it out. I've run a few games of it, and SPNK'ring some Pfhor from across the gameboard, causing him to fly backwards and blow open a locked door is rather cool.
Aaanyways, if you think you have what it takes to lend a hand, or even if you don't, drop me a line. If you can write and understand some basic cryptic commands, hell, you're hired.
