Actually, the Fink approach is quite simple... | ||

In Response To: Wait, that's not it! (Me_43) Bah, here was me thinking the average Marathoner would be too dumb to get the libs etc on. Must have confused you people with the Quake players somehow... Righty. All you need to do to get it running is install Fink, copy FinkCommander to the desktop, and run it. Wait a moment or two, then type 'sdl' into the search box. Six items will appear, install the binaries of all the ones which DO NOT have 'shlibs' in the name. Easy. Then just grab E0 and Scenario1. Now you can gasp at the glory of a room you can walk around in, two really really annoying click sounds, three weapons which actually work - one of which has zoom but I at some point set it to negative zoom so you get a fisheye view which is pretty cool - and a few enemies which sit there, and in one case, shoot. Oh and the whole thing runs really slowly on an iBook G3... it's the second-last iBook G3, but i forget the specs... anyway the program is very graphically instensive. Statically built version - so you don't need to do all that crap - to come. |
