The bracket in your quote was not my thoughts - it was from pantheon's article itself - Janus's head was thought to symbolise a sun and moon - this is just standard historical interpretation. I see the fact that 'threshold' is not a sun, but the symbolic placement of halo between a moon and a gas giant called threshold, together with the fact that Janus is god of thresholds, meant it was too big a coincidence to skip. You see?
