Despite being active in the community, I'm not active here at the HBO forums, so many of you may not know me. Hiay. I'm Åstro. :)
Anyway, I've been thinking that it's about time we start Halo Done Quick. For those of you who don't know what this is, allow me to explain. There have been several games (starting with Quake, and most notably Myth and Myth II), in which people have strived to complete the levels in the shortest times possible. So, I submit the idea for a new (informal?) tournement, where we try to beat the levels of Halo in as fast of a time as possible. I propose the rules to be as follows:
- Times include all non-skippable cutscenes, starting from when the level loads, to when the level ends (ie, the next level starts loading).
- Times *DO* include deaths. (ie, if you get near the end of the level, and then die, just revert to the last checkpoint, and keep going, but don't stop the timer, so the death's time is included.)
- Games are played on Legendary only.
Other than that, it's all about skill, tricks, bugs, and most of all, speed. You can bug the whole level, skip huge areas, do whatever you want in order to get the fastest time, as long as you still finish the level.
As per these rules, here are the times that I've recorded so far:
(Note that I didn't record seconds; I'll redo the levels, faster, with seconds recorded, if more times are posted)
Level - Solo Time - Coop Time
1) PoA - 0:18 - 0:09
2) Halo - 1:08 - 0:23
3) T&R - 1:58 - 0:37
4) SC - 0:31 - 0:29
5) AotCR - 1:04 - 0:59
6) 343GS - 0:19 - none
7) Lib - none - none (Hate Library... been saving that for last)
8) 2B - none - 0:46
9) Keyes - 0:35 - 0:24
10) Maw - 0:20 - none
I encourage you to try the levels on Legendary, alone, or with a friend, and record your time, to see how fast you can do it. If it's faster than mine, please post them. Some of mine I know aren't that good, and I could do much better on *cough*2hoursforT&R*cough. Anyway, please, participate!
