The plasma pistol blasts that hit a wall/floor have more of a green tint to them, this looks blue, so it could be from a plasma rifle.

The same lightning effect occurs when blasting a light bridge, like on Halo, or 343 GS with a plasma weapon.

What about a Shade fired at the floor, close range. On co-op, have player 1 look down, while player 2 fires near player 1's feet.
