The easiest way I've found to test each new area is to kill the player a few times. If he respawns with a weapon, keep it up until he doesn't --consistently. The area should be clear of just about everything once that happens.

I think the funniest thing I've seen so far are the Covs with no weapons,...only they don't seem to know they don't have one. Like the little spec-op grunt who was dancing around in Keyes playing shoot-em-up with his make believe fuel rod cannon. What a riot.
