Sounds smart. I always like to 'lean' my writing and my visuals on each other - they have to prop each other up if you want to do both well. It turns into a see-saw of sorts, and then when you finally have the two balanced you run away. I'd say about 50% of Fistful of Arrows pages were re-wrote heavily after the art was finished. And I'm doing the same thing right now with my own comic.
