In Response To: What's with the last one in the CE batch? (Mirel) : The bottom half is much smaller than the top half. The gun isn't even : visible, that just can't be true, can it? In most of the Halo games, acommodation of different aspect ratios seems to be done by what is essentially horizontal extension and cropping (possibly not on a rendering level, but on a results level); if you take the 8:3 split screen in ODST, and you slice off the left and right quarters of the image, you get what is essentially the 4:3 fullscreen image. CEA's split-screen has views with a 32:9 aspect ratio. Rather than horizontally extending the 86-degree 16:9 view to get aspect ratio (which would have meant a FoV of 124), they decided to vertically crop it. This results in CEA's split-screen having equal horizontal FoV to its regular widescreen view, but much reduced vertical FoV.
