After enough context or obvious translations, a whole language can open up. The rosetta stone I think can be comparable. Sure, translations are still not 100% certain after centuries, but this script wouldn't need to be as complex. I'm sure a cryptographer or two could have made them a simple language or at least something more than a 1 to 1 relationship between symbols and letters. It's just boring. Is that something that could be revealed instantly? No, but why demand instant gratification? Why should all the secrets be revealed within a few days of launch? Those acronyms on the bungie games are simple, unanswered puzzles, and interest comes back every few years. Why not let it happen here?
