In Response To: Weaponized Transhumans: Halo, Deus Ex, Crysis... (General Battuta) As far as Cortana and Master Chief go, I don't think the Chief is a pawn of the AI at all. I thought the point of their relationship in Halo 3 was that neither could function without the other. Cortana couldn't out maneuver the Gravemind despite her best efforts, and Chief couldn't finish the fight without her. As far as Guilty, he never came across as a manipulator of obsolete humans considering how dismissive everybody was of his advice in Halo 3. "Have your dumb light bulb pick that lock." In fact, in Halo 3, there's a general dismissive attitude towards AIs from multiple parties. Hood doesn't trust Cortana and basically doesn't care about what happens to her. Guilty's like: "Oh wait but there's this weird foundry over here that might help" and Keyes is like: "No; Truth must die" and Guilty's like "But what about..." and Miranda interrupts: "TRUTH." Then eventually Guilty kinda has enough of the humans not taking him seriously and being called a light bulb so the Chief has to put him down like a lame horse.
