In Response To: Re: Floodgate revisited (General Vagueness)

: I didn't mind that because I'd do something like that in that situation, the
: angry "stuck" animations always struck me as not the smartest
: thing, especially from what are supposed to be battle-hardened warriors,
: I'd think they'd try to get you back,

We need to do the experiment. Lets pick some battle hardened veterans, throw a super-glue covered grenade onto them and see how they react. Oh, and it will have to be doused in napalm or white phosphorus for that genuine, plasma burn effect. Lets record their reactions. :-)

: and the "get it off"
: animations didn't do much for me because I'd think they'd know it can't be
: removed so again it seems like a little bit of a time waster

But that's the funny part. I loved the, "not again!" cry.

I wonder if 343i Grunt offerings will be Staten free? :-( Come on Joe, could you do a guest appearance? I'm sure that they will pay you...

Anyway, back to the pointlessness of the animations: 343i could have rare attempts by comrades to dig off a sticky with a an Elite energy blade or Grunty knife. Have them succeed on rare occasions, have the helper get the grenade stuck on themselves now and then. One or two instances per game would establish that it is possible to remove a sticky, you just need good mates with a steady hand and iron nerves.

: , and anyway
: it makes plasma grenades less of a "get out of jail free card"
: like how rockets typically are.

They let you fight up close with Elites. In the original game the Elites' PR plasma freeze and their awesome mobility made it V dangerous to fight up close. The PP stun and the sticky shock gave you a fighting chance. They didn't guarantee victory.

We still have overcharged shot plus headshot but overcharge plus sticky is comedy gold. I find it much more satisfying. If you don't agree then don't use it - take the shot instead.

If the Covies charge when you stick them then you have to use a different grenade strategy. This new strategy is called don't-use-grenades-unless-they-are-very-far-away. It reduces the use of one leg of the Halo gameplay tripod.
