On the other hand Cortana also made : it sound extremely destructive, so I guess you can take your pick. Here's another way of looking at it: Remember that flash at the end of Halo: CE? How that ring of light was spreading across Halo? Does that look like reflected debris to anyone else? I'm not an expert, but if an explosion has enough energy to rip off Halo's atmosphere and surface, and then fling it across the ring at the observed speeds... I'm not sure that parts of the Pillar of Autumn should have survived. Of course, if parts of the Autumn were shot off before Keyes landed her, or sheared off upon contact with atmosphere, that would be a different story.
