: I would be happy if there was a button that made people not nerd rage over : the first episode of a series that really wasn't that bad. I would be happy if there was a button that eliminated bad decisions. And then I looked into a world like that, and I realized that it would play out like a chess manual. Black and White make the optimum moves, making all the textbook attempts. And White always wins. And it was so boring. So, as long as these bad decisions exist, corrective measures must also exist to keep things in balance. Sure, some of these measures are dirtier than others (E.G: Laxatives and the French Revolution) but at least they leave the world a better place than it was. Hopefully. : It wasn't amazing. It wasn't even great. But it was not the complete and : total end of the universe that everyone made it out to be. No. It was just a sink of money when the managing studio needed to prove it's bona-fides, after the release of Reach overshadowed their botched attempts at a tFOR reprint and the Halo 'Encyclopedia'. : All it needed : was constructive criticism and some more work. Like, you know, EVERY : SINGLE PILOT THAT AIRS ON TV. Don't know about that. Firefly had a pretty good one. : And yes, while I'm well aware that not every : aired Pilot becomes a show, there are generally good reasons. Not, : "The intended audience nerd raged so hardcore we had to kill this off : silently." That's not a good reason? "We're killing this off because it was unintentionally offensive, and the target audience isn't going to buy it." If that's not a good reason, I can't quite think of a better one. At least it's not as bad as "It required the audience to pay attention to understand what was going on." And yes, that last one WAS an actual reason for canceling a TV show.
