I'm just a little puzzled as to why of all the in-jokes : and pokes at the administration, my little quip has been singled out. Because giving credit where credit is due is something that 1) I take pretty seriously, and try VERY hard to do, and 2) I get a ton of grief about - some of it very nasty. Not sure why I need to even give you a reason, actually; when you rib someone (and you may have thought you were ribbing Grim, but if you didn't mean for it to be generalizable to the entire posting staff, you needed to make that clear), and they tell you they don't find it funny, the polite thing to do (unless they're a pretty close friend, or you're an asshole) is to drop it.
