So you're on a desert island: | |

And you can take one [1] level from either Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo ODST or Halo Reach. But it's the only level you will ever play, ever again. You don't have any company on your desert island, and no internet connection, so you will only ever play the level as a single campaign. Your damaged xbox, as well as being capable of playing only one level, is stuck on legendary difficulty. What do you choose? This dilemma came to me after we were talking about a Halo 2 HD re-release. I love Quarantine Zone. I love its epicness, I love the story, I love how beautiful it is, I love its music. But, it can be frustrating, especially when you break out into the snow and have to get past all the Flood. While ODST is my favourite game, the levels themselves miss out on the grand scale battles that, for me, codify a Halo game. (Reach too, seems to miss having that kind of battle up until The End Run where you, sadly, run past said battle). I would consider Two Betrayals or Assault on the Control Room, they're both good, fun levels. Particularly the banshee sequences in TB, which I spent many, many hours on - just exploring the canyons. For that reason, I also enjoy Long Night of Solace. Returning from the control room in the carrier was one of the most satisfying fights I've ever had in Halo, with little health, little ammo, and a pair of Elites standing between me and the door. From that point of view, Tayari Plaza, where I first encountered the AWESOME Hunter battles in ODST, is a definite favourite fight. But if you could only ever play one level, maybe something like Halo is the one, because of its nostalgia factor? Or 343 Guilty Spark. For nostalgia, surely you can't beat descending in the bloody elevator? I think, in the end, if I could only play one level ever again . . . it would have to be Two Betrayals. Three factions. Multiple vehicles. Good story. It's very replayable, very fun, even though it has Cortana in it.
