My assumption has always been that Jericho is the common star name for Lambda Serpentis. That's one of the reasons why the Encyclopedia entry baffles me. Roman numerals are usually used to denote planet position from its star and regular numerals for satellite positions from planets. Jericho VII should be the 7th planet from the star Jericho, otherwise known as Lambda Serpentis. Now, if the 7th planet is also the only inhabited colony, then it wouldn't surprise me that the colony was also named Jericho. It would be just as proper to list the planet as Lambda Serpentis VII.
