Re: bungieaerospace.com is legit

In Response To: bungieaerospace.com is legit (ElusiveEagle519)

: Hot on the heels of the discovery of some new copyright and domain
: registrations by Bungie, it is clear that bungieaerospace.com is in the
: same group. Comparing the registration details between the domains shows
: congruency. In the past, the content of bungieaerospace.com and its
: registration details seemed out of Bungie's character. Now, it is pretty
: clear that all of these domains are in fact registered in Bungie's name.

: Bungie used the private registration services of domainsbyproxy.com which
: registers domains through GoDaddy.com . Below are the details for the
: domains: bungieaerospace.com
: sevenseraphs.com
: sevenseraphs.net
: sevenseraphs.org
: deadorbit.com
: deadorbit.net
: deadorbit.org
: newmonarchy.org

: Things to note: -all registrations are for 5 years (except sevenseraphs.org,
: which is 2 years)
: -the name servers point to domaincontrol.com, which is used by GoDaddy (this
: might suggest that Bungie is currently using or intends to use GoDaddy for
: hosting, which is an interesting thought....of course, the name servers
: can always change!)

Look, I hate to be a downer on this one - and I'm not saying for a minute that these AREN'T Bungie's domains - but there is NO evidence whatsoever in this information that 1) makes bungieaerospace.com any more legit than it already was, or 2) connects the other domains to that one.

GoDaddy is a HUGE registrar - they've got more than 40 million domains under registration, according to Wikipedia. And a significant percentage use the Domains By Proxy service. (Hell, I've used it. And my domains registered with it look EXACTLY THE SAME AS THESE.)

Bungieaerospace.com was registered in February 2010. The new copyright stuff all went up on July 27. The new domains weren't registered until October. Bungie has NO history of buying up the .org versions of their domains. (That's not to say they won't start now - just that if you're going to speculate, you might as well use historical data to extrapolate from).

These could be Bungie-registered - or they could be something totally fan-driven, by someone who did the copyright search between July and October.

There is NOTHING tying these domains to Bungie specifically.
