On the story, my opinion hews closer to yours than to Cody's. I would say some of the missions he suggested could be cut, as they don't advance the plot, would in fact have to be retained, because they reinforce this theme. But I also agree (with both of you) that there were still some that don't feel all that important. I can sort of reconcile those missions by the fact that as Noble Team, you're a valuable battlefield asset, and command would naturally be sending you orders to do stuff they think is strategically important (whether or not they're actually right about that fact). This isn't like the Master Chief, where you're the so-called "last" Spartan, and as such get a special pass to just do epic things. Maybe that's a bit apologist, though.
