He was humorous and fun with an inspiring attitude for the first two games, though mostly fullfilling a function any soldier could...
But by Halo 3, he became emotionally attached to you (er... me) and became a friend or father.... maybe 'wise uncle' would fit best. So by I truly was emotionally motivated to try and get to him during the the Covenant level when he was captured... and also extremely sad when he met his demise in the end of the game. I really didn't have any fun doing that Warthog run the first time I played it because I was just depressed from losing Johnson... :(
