| Sticking with 'spores' after all | |

In Response To: Re: Bad Cyborg movies - Flood onslaught challenge (General Vagueness) Actually, after starting to alter 'spore' to 'parasite' on my site and realizing how extensively interwoven the former term was, I've decided to go back and stick with 'spore' after all. More googling showed me that the term is in pretty common use for the nibbler chappies - which doesn't make it any more correct of course, but when something has fallen into reasonably common use there's a case for having to just give in and accept it as an alternative. I've added a mention of the distinction in my H1 combat tips section on the Flood, but ultimately say that "as a trooper in the field - which is my main psychological standpoint - I'll leave the science stuff to the boffins. Me, I just shoot stuff, and I've always known these pests as 'spores'. Waddaya gonna do, demote me?". But thanks anyway. | |
