In Response To: Re: Gender and War discussion, possibly? (elpolloguapo) : Perhaps. I don't think Bungie intended it as anything more than to give the : game more depth by enhancing our knowledge of its universe, rather than : making any kind of statement. Now, one of the great results of having made : a game with such depth is that it becomes possible to read a lot into it, : and make parallels with reality, because it's so comprehensive it is its : own reality. But I don't think that was in and of itself the intent. On the other hand, Bungie (especially Bungie) must certainly be aware that people will interpret their games, and may take that fact into account when making certain decisions. It's rather like with LotR - if you're creating a story about an epic war, while your country is involved in a giant, publicized war, then sorry, your story is going to be about that war whether you like it or not. Presumably Bungie knows this.
