: In my opinion... the most critical body language I've noticed, is in : "The Covenant", right after you activate the bridge to the : control panel. The Chief walks across and sees Johnson holding a dead : Miranda. Chief's shoulders are haunched, his head is sagging, and the way : his helmet is titled almost makes his face mask look sad. It is, in my : opinion, the single saddest moment of the game, where Chief realizes that : his CO is dead, that this war is taking an enormous toll. It is, in my : opinion, the single saddest moment of the trilogy. In all other moments of : the games, he's always stuck to his mission. Here, however, with a prophet : ready to be killed, and the rings ready to be stopped, he takes a moment : to mourn his CO's dead. The fact that the death was impact-ful enough to : warrant a moment from the Chief speaks very much about his admiration for : her and how dire the situation is. Agreed - this reminds me of how Chief acts during Johnson's death too. After Cortana says 'Chief, I'm so sorry' you see the camera switch to Chiefs hand, and it kind of starts to make a fist around Cortana's data chip. Almost as if to say, 'Fuck it. Light the damn thing and let's get out of here.' Certainly, it appears to communicate a wearyness with all the losses he's sustained. Interesting how Arbiter consoles him after the installation is fired... it's a good thing he's around to be the cheerleader. :D
