: Your right on the first point BUT after seven years a "Smart" AI : makes too many connections in their network and cease functioning.They : don't spontanously go rampant.You need a fairly large computer network : with lots of space to go rampant.*COUGH* HALO *COUGH* No seriously it IS : possible that Cortana started down the path of Rampancy.After all in the : very first Marathon, Durandal (your semi-evil AI buddy) begins going : Rampant on board the several kilometer long ship even though it isn't a : "world" sized network. I've always wondered if the 7 year lifespan was artificially induced by humans so as to keep AI's from going Rampant. Until we get to look through all of ONI's classified files, I don't think we'll know for sure.
