I was looking at the extended metadata embedded in the image (hoping, unsuccessfully, for GPS coordinates of the location).

Any of these could be spoofed/faked, but here's what they are:

Note that the photo (apparently taken with a Nikon (?) camera) dates from 5/30/2008 (note: that's 2 weeks before E3). This image, to me, looks more in-game, and not like a real photo, so this could be BS ... but that's what the data says. Paint.NET v3.35, used the edit the photo, came out on July 7, again a little bit before E3 (3.35 was the current version until 3.36 was released on Aug 26).

Bottom-line, multiple source suggest that this photo was created slightly before E3.
