You have to remember that she absorbed information from the first halo, from the Gravemind, from the Unyielding Heinlophant, etc. That could have prolonged her life or shortened it. Mendicant has been kicking around for 100,000 years and he still has enough sense to recognize his mistake and help the Chief correct it. Remember the sentinels in the last 4 levels? Sent by MB.
