: I think you're talking about fantasy, not science fiction. : And any narrative, regardless of genre, needs internal consistency. Well of course, without internal consistency it just wouldn't make sense. But all that would be for naught without a compelling story. Just to me personally, this *could* be really compelling. It certain is during this 'rampant speculation' stage.
