If the war ended when the chief actiated the ring, why didn't he die? When the slipspace portal closed around the Dawn, he was left behind when the ring fired. Except he wasn't killed. So if the ring is supposed to destroy sentient life and the chief lived, then I think it's pretty safe to assume that something went wrong, which means that the flood are still there... any thoughts?
