: Not really. Remember the line from the Ship Master/Spec Ops Commander? : "One single Flood spore can destroy a species." : It's not enough to kill all Flood on an infected world. Once infected, a : planet needs to be cleansed. Cleansed in the total surface annihilation : sense. The Covenant did that with glassing, and presumably the Forerunner : had a similar protocol. Then cleanse the infected surface and be done with it. No need to nuke the entire planet, though the Ship Master certainly wanted to. If the Sentinel armies can keep the Flood contained in a certain area, the rest of the planet could be spared.
