: Space is huge . Even for the Forerunner, crossing our galaxy would take : months at best. Not counting the portal event, everything we've seen in : the Halo series has taken place in just the Orion Arm of the Milky Way, : which is a tiny fraction of the whole of our galaxy. : And added on to travel times would finding systems with life. For all the : planets in the galaxy, expect life (even in the alien packed Haloverse) to : be as rare as 1 in 10,000 systems. That's a lot of random jumping around : for armed parties on both sides to find each other. So therefore there'd be plenty of coordination to get some sentinel factories going and churning out armies?
