: This has probably been brought up before but here I go. : My question is this: Why did the Forerunners continue to insist on employing : squishy, sentient flood-bait as soldiers to combat the parasite menace : when they have proved quite capable of employing trillions of : infection-immune, flood-destroying Sentinals? Because they weren't employing squishy, sentient Flood bait in the first place. The terminals make it quite clear the Forerunner were not sending troops into combat if they could avoid it and preferred to sterilize Flood-infected worlds from orbit. Worlds overrun by Flood were generally not controlled by the Forerunner but other species that were forced to use their meaty military in combat.
