It did infect almost an entire galaxy, and : that's not counting whatever or whoever it consumed on the way to the : Milky Way. It would know damn near everything there is to know, giving : it an infinitesimal advantage over the Forerunners. It infected almost the entire galaxy because the forerunners continued to use meatbags to combat the Flood, instead of the overwhelming firepower of large numbers of Sentinals.
