We : don't know much about the Spartan I's and what Cortana says in the : Conversations booklet may not apply to them. I think one of the characters : in the I Love Bees (I know that might not be canon) had a parent who was a : Spartan I as well. The weren't Spartan I's before the Spartan II's. They were called Spartan II's because they were named after the original Spartans of ancient Greece. They were the Spartan I's... it's in the novel, just read more closely.
