The physical form of the GM is only a : mouthpiece, or a relay system, to more directly control and coordinate the : bodies of the Flood. But the intelligence for it is always there, just : floating around in a bunch of different bodies. My point is that the behavior of the Flood changes once a Gravemind is created. Before that, the individual Flood units communicate through pheromones, but once a Gravemind exists, all of the Flood units start to coordinate as one. That either means the Gravemind commands them all, or they all communicate to each other through the Gravemind.
