Millions of people bought Halo 3 anyway, so it's : not that big of a deal. That's exactly why it's it a big deal. Halo 2 saw success like no other because no other Xbox game came close to taking its throne away. It wasn't until Gears of War was released that a game topped Halo 2 in Major Nelson's chart, and that was only because the Major was combining the 360 and Xbox top 10 lists. This time around, it only took a few months for a game to displace Halo 3, and I'm pretty sure it surprised everyone involved. It actually is a big deal that Microsoft's powerhouse title was pushed to second in unique users within a matter of months. You used an analogy elsewhere in this thread that the list is like watching for news about your favorite celebrity's pool party. That's not particularly accurate. It's closer to watching your favorite sports team/athlete/race car driver/whatever perform. Are you saying it wouldn't matter if a runner was in first place? On a less allegorical note, there are specific implications for those involved for what those top ten numbers mean. For fans? It can be considered a thing of pride. That would be part of "fandom;" not just enjoying the game itself, but enjoying its success. It's hardly immature to want something you enjoy to be popular, or even "the most" popular. For press, it means that something unanticipated happened, and the press will want to know what caused it, and how people (the developers in particular) react to it. And seriously, did you even bother to read Lou's news post? He's not lamenting, or suggesting Halo is doomed. He even went so far as to link an article that suggests that Bungie isn't sweating the situation. I've seen news sites act far less objective on this particular issue than Lou did, and this is a Halo fansite, which, despite what you may think, this kind of information is particularly relevant to. Granted, you've already admitted that you're just a troll, and are being an idiot for idiocy's sake, but I still feel that the immaturity had to be called out a bit. -S
