: 1) The Hierarchs knew that humans were "Forerunner" or at least : Reclaimers, so I still don't understand why it would be a surprise to them : that humans were at the Ark given their obvious connection to the : Forerunner. I know the Prophets and Elites and other Cov species probably : found many other Forerunner ruins with no humans around, but it was : specifically Regret who somehow didn't stop to think that reclaimers might : possibly be on arguably the most important of all Forerunner artifacts? : Maybe he was just hasty and didn't think of all the possible consequences, : we kinda see that side of him in the book... : 2) How do we know that Mendicant Bias is the Oracle from Contact Harvest? 343 : was an Oracle, and evidently there were others around (like 2401 or : whatever), so unless I missed a detail in the book, I'm not sure how we : can say for sure that MB is the Oracle from the Dreadnought. Certainly an : AI in a Forerunner ship would lead one to assume that it is possibly the : same as the one from the terminals, but who's to say that MB wasn't just : stuck on the Ark the entire time? On your second point- Contact Harvest is what tells us that MB was not on the Ark the entire time. The terminals tell us MB was shut up in a single Forerunner Dreadnaught by his opponent (The other Bias, his name escapes me.). Now in the book, we are told an oracle in the Forerunner Dreadnought ship, who looks like an Eye (similiar to something we know, hmm? Terminals maybe?) Is awakened after centuries of silence and announces that it wants to atone for it's sins and tries to leave for the Ark, after being shown Reclaimers lived. What does MB want to do? He wants to right his wrongs. To atone, if you will. That's a pretty obvious connect the dots kind of thing, In my Opinion. As for the Regret thing, it is a puzzler. My personal opinion has been that Regret didn't really care if there were humans; he wanted to get to the Ark by himself and do what Truth was trying to. Activate the rings, kill everything in the universe except for himself, become a "God".
