: The Covenant Construct: What was the covenant construct Cortana mentions in : High Charity? It was "fighting back" and "unusually : formidable". She specifically says it's a covenant construct. So… : what was it? I think she said something more along the lines of: "There's something in the system fighting back. For a covenant construct it is unusually formidable." I always took this to mean that Cortana was unsure of what it was that was in the system. And that if it was a Covenant AI it was far more impressive than the ones she had seen in the past. This leaves the door wide open for the thing in the system to be something other than a Covenant AI. At this point I would say the thing fighting back was Mendicant Bias. In Contact Harvest MB tries to take the Keyship to Harvest to make amends to what he did to the Forerunner but his attempt is stopped. When Truth is trying to go to Earth MB fights Cortana for control of the ship because MB still wants to make amends to the Humans, and getting to some place that the Humans are is the only way to do that.
