In Response To: Halo Universe influences (mcdizzell) : I'm wondering what other influences, or possible direct comparisons, bungie : took from other games over the years to shape Halo. I haven't played to : many games or FPS' for that matter, so I only have a few examples. : The Half-life series has a lot of comparisons to Halo. Since Half-;ife came : out in 1998, I'd have to say Bingie got some ideas from them and not the : other way around. The combine, the main enemy in Half-life, is a : combination of all the species and worlds they conquere. Combine-Covenant. : Also the headcrabs, the flood infection spores, that jump at you. They : infect their host and turn them into zombies. : I'm sure there are other games out there and other sci-fi works that have : inspired bungie. But i don't know what those are, except for their own : games. So do any of you have any other examples of where Bngie may have : gotten ideas? : PS: I'm not trying to say Bungie stole any of this stuff. Starhammer, The Battlemaster, and The Military Form are huge influences to the Halo Universe. Starhammer being an all mighty installation that can send a star into nova (not as bad as wiping out a portion of the galaxy) and is infected by an intelligent parasite (The Vang - which is essentially The Flood).
