You don't need it connected to your XBL account, it'll show up on everyone's Live Messenger tabs. The Xbox tab should be #5 (hopefully tomorrow it'll be #2, and have a Halo 3 logo instead of the sphere) in the tab menu. Here's a screenshot I took! (One of my responsibilities is to program what goes into the tab, which helps explain why I have a screenshot of it.)
