In Response To: Re: Things I noticed - spoilers (UNSC Trafalgar) : I realize this will probably sound stupid or dumb, but a destroyed convoy : sounds an awful lot like the scene we see in "Starry Night". I : doubt they are related but either way, that is what I think of when i read : that. I agree...seems like the Starry Night scene :-) And as far as the "base" goes, it could be a UNSC base similar to one mentioned in the books (read Eric Nylund's First Strike, page 98). Or perhaps a research facility around where the Ark is discovered. Or heck--the Ark itself! On topic, but delving close to a tangent... The flood coming to Earth? That would open a lot of really crazy and desperate ideas. Could Cortana and/or the Master Chief end up activating the Ark themselves, on purpose? If the Flood reach Earth, it wouldn't be long before they nabbed every human still alive, after all. Or perhaps they strike a deal with Gravemind; maybe they agree not to activate the Ark if the Flood leaves Earth alone. You could make lots of variants to this thinking--they take Earth and leave the rest of the colonies alone (to stop anyone from activating the Ark?), or they take the Covenant and leave humanity, or vice versa...and so on and so on. In my own opinion, it will have some finality that will never be subject to debate, and a few loose ends they don't tie up so that Halo players everywhere pull their hair out (nothing like a open ending to leave room for other games in the Halo Universe). Also, and don't hate me for saying it, I think Master Chief will probably bite it. Cortana might, but it would be much more sad (and Epic in style) to leave her alive, mourning over MC. Then she would either sit there till she died or go out to get revenge "pissed-off-human style!" I'll finish by saying I think Ghosts of Onyx will end up playing a role in what happens in Halo 3. Much is learned about the Covenant and the Forerunner that wasn't in the games. Someone or something caused a technologically superior civilization to activate the Halos (Forerunner Swords!) and destroy themselves before getting into Onyx (Forerunner Shield!). Maybe Gravemind tricked them; or, in true Bungie fashion, there is another party/person/element/part of the story that hasn't been revealed that explains just about everything we here on the forums try desperately to figure out with our wild conjecture. -Devrous
