one way to look at it is, it's comparing our unknown object to what they can handle, as opposed to comparing it to their size. Something too powerful for a single banshee to handle, something that's too low for a phantom to engage....

...naturally, the chief springs right to mind, although a scorpion would fit that as well.

but what bothers me is the "too low for a phantom" comment. I mean, the phantoms fly right down to, what, fifteen feet off the ground, right to where a grunt jumping out won't kill itself. how much lower can you get?

well, the ground itself.

the Dropship from halo 1. fits right in between the banshee and the phantom in size, I believe, and they've landed right on the ground before.
