Did we EVER see it as : even an ALPHA RTS? All we have is a movie that shows a bunch of tiny : marines hopping like mexican jumping beans. Short films of jeeps and : aircraft hovering around doesn't mean squat. And what's the most damning : evidence? BUNGIE THEMSELVES DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD WORK AS AN RTS AND : ABANDONED IT. That's not the point. The guy's post made it sound as if the idea of a Halo RTS was something totally uber and original, and Narc just pointed out that that wasn't the case. I can't imagine it being a defense of Halo Wars, because the old Halo RTS is long dead like you pointed out. That way, it should actually go against Halo Wars, considering that the old possibility of making a Halo RTS failed. : I pass no judgement on Ensemble's take on the Halo RTS, I'll play it when : it's done and assess it then. Seriously. But this constant 'defense' of : "Halo started as an RTS" is so disingenous, I have to call : bullshit. I follow your take. Whatever happened to the original Halo RTS is totally irrelevant to Halo Wars, and there's no point in defending Halo Wars by saying "Halo was an RTS, so Halo Wars must be good". But that wasn't Narc's point. If in the early stages of Halo development, someone had sketched : out Halo's gameplay using a board game as a mental exercise, would we be : going around claiming "Halo started out as a boardgame"? I'm sure someone would be...if someone else started out making a Halo boardgame, and that someone got a cease and desist from Microsoft, and then have a fan of that fan-made boardgame insist that it was a totally new realization of the Halo universe.
