In Response To: Worth a thousand and one words - *IMAGE (Wado SG) Did 343 Guilty Spark, the Monitor of Installation Zero Four, make any attempts to contact either the Covenant or the Humans on Installation Zero Four after they had made landfall? And if not.... why didn't he? To my knowledge (for the love of all that is good, CORRECT ME if I'm wrong! Don't just sit there and do nothing if I'm mistaken!) this is how the first contact scenarios played out: 343 meets and speaks with MCPO John-117 first, at the swamp. 343 then meets and speaks with the Covenant troops stationed on the Forerunner Gas-Mining Facility on Threshold, where his words cause the leader of the troops stationed there to leave the Covenant, having been informed that the Halos were not for any Great Journey, but were instead a weapon of last resort for use against the Flood. 343 then meets and speaks with the Arbiter, but is immediately grabbed by Tartarus and taken to the Prophets of Truth and Mercy at High Charity. 343 then meets and speaks with the Prophets of Truth and Mercy at High Charity. 343 then speaks with the Arbiter, Miranda, Johnson, and the Brutes in the ending cutscene of Halo 2. End. That's it. No more communication between 343 and anyone else. Okay, so, there ARE no other points at which 343 speaks with anyone, right? No other events where someone meets him for the first time? That assumed, why the heck didn't he go out to meet the people that arrived at Installation Zero Four when they arrived? Whether they be Covenant or Human, why didn't he go try to talk with them? Wouldn't that have helped a little, in that he would have been able to say to them "Hey. Wait. Don't open that. Bad things. Very bad things. Open not." Ideas? Anyone? Also, if that was the Arbiter's first contact with 343, how did he know to call him "Oracle"? | |
