In Response To: Re: My Thoughts on the Halo Series (DoT_Gunslinger) : In Halo 1 there was always a way out of being spawnkilled unlike some
When you find yourself up against 3 guys in Blood Gulch: 1 with the Sniper on that cliff ramp next to the Blue Base, 1 with a Scorpion on the Blue base's side, and the other with a Scorpion on the Red's side, come talk to me about being able to fight spawnkills with the pistol. I've played Halo1 for over a year before Halo2 came out, and still play it to this day, though I find myself playing Halo2 a bit more. The point is that with the pistol, you negate the need to have other weapons. Yes you can grab something else, but why would you want to when you already have the best all around weapon? : The pistol cannot touch someone base to base on Blood Gulch, while the sniper
Given the fact that there is usually another sniper on such a map, and a veriaty of mid range weapons and vehicles, taking out a Sniper in such a situation isn't as difficult as you make it sound. : However I do agree that the weapon was overpowered, however SO WERE ALL H1
Ooookaaaayy. That is of course your oppinion and you're entitled to it. Though I have to say I feel just as powerful with a PP/SMG combo, the RL, and the Sword in Halo2 (except when I lunge to my doom with the sword on Lockout, then I feel like the sword is a betrayful weapon, almost Stuntmuttlike really). : What has been beaten to death is not the subject, but in fact the closed door
In the overall sense I feel it is, yes. But the big difference is that he presented it with respect, intelligence, and a greater amount of forethought than want is usually seen in most Hal1>Halo2 arguement. He was giving his sincere opinion, which is always welcomed, and stated that this was how he looked at both games. Not stating what always is the case in one game and not in the other. : Close range Shotgun/Sword(if it had been in H1)/Plasma Rifle/Assault Rifle
Given the rate of fire and the fact that only 3 shots to the head are needed to bring someone down I find your analysis of close range combat a bit off as far as the PR and AR go. Sword is a moot point as it is not in the game. Shotgun>Pistol? Yes, but only if you are close enough to get a one hit kill. Compare the two weapons rate of fire and a Shotgun can be taken down with more expediency than a Pistol. And this is assuming you can even get close enough to the Pistol wielder. : Mid-range Rocket > Pistol (even the pistols ideal range it is not the best
Again only if you can get the first shot kill. If you don't by the time your ready to fire again gives the pistol enough time to bring you down. : Long range Sniper > Pistol At really long range, yes. Problem is most maps don't give you that. In maps like Lockout, Ascension, Beaver Creak, Foundation, Sanctuary, etc. the Pistol would dominate. : I believe all weapons but the Needler are accounter for, and the needler just
In Halo2 I once killed a Sword wielder with DW Needlers. Most fun I ever had. |
