In Response To: Re: My Thoughts on the Halo Series (Frankie) : The pistol, as it operates in Halo 1, is so
Your test team must be pretty damn good with the pistol/BR to be able to kill those close range shotgun and sword users, as well as the mid range rocket guy and the long range sniper. I can't even count the amount of times I spawned in Halo 1 only to be hit by a rocket before I could even line up my first pistol shot, or shotgunned in the face, or stunned from behind by a Plasma Rifle/Plasma Pistol. I've gotta hand it to you that the needler just didn't stack up to the pistol, but I never had problems getting kills with all the other Halo 1 weapons. You see the symtoms of the bad game design that went into the BR when a sniper can stand a mile away out in the open pinning you on the spawn and you cannot touch him even with a BR. Your only option is to hide behind cover (if even available) and wait for the sniper to do something stupid. If he is ahead he'll just sit there and watch the clock tick to 0. Personally online pistols sounds more fun. At least I get to push buttons on my controller. There is rarely enough cover to make any approach at all to the sniper to force a close range encounter. Don't take me the wrong way please, I love Halo 2 and play it all the time, but some of the situations you throw players in are just brutally painful. -Gunslinger |
