The hidden galleries (nooo, not again!) *NS*
Posted By: eddie mDate: 11/22/04 5:42 p.m.

Most of you are surely aware of the hidden galleries on the limited edition DVD.
They were mentionened several times in this forum, and it was here where I fist read about them.
Having nothing better to do with my time, I tried to figure out what requirements have to be met to enter each of the galleries I know so far; and I thought it would be interesting for at least some of you to know how this stuff works.

For those of you who donīt have the LE DVD Iīve added links to most of the pictures. With the exception of one, all of them are hosted on b.org, and two of the fan creations I havenīt found anywhere on the īnet. Maybe I missed them, maybe they are still in the submissions queue, dunno.
The last Mister Chief drawing can be found at the end of Frankies video update.

On to the galleries. Letīs begin with the easiest one.
Enter the "Developing the Game" menu, and highlight (move the blue cursor to) "Beyond Single Player".
Now sit back and watch for a while what happens on the screen. There are several "preview windows" moving around (actually, they donīt preview anything menu-related), showing concept art, weapons, vehicles etc. Listen to the decent beat of the background music. The rhythm will be helpfull to find the first trigger point.
Eventually the music stops, and so does the movement on the screen for a second. Look at the right hand side of the screen. Thereīs a small window that shows, beginning with the frag grenade, some weapons exactly to the beats of the music. The last four pictures before this window disappears are: pistol, pistol, skull, skull.
Press "Left" on your remote control as if you would like to pause at the last skull.
Pictures in this gallery:
"Untitled" by Andrew Paul
"Shrike" by Jordan Edell
"Elite vs Brute" by Tina Leyk

Still in the "Developing the Game" menu, highlight "Main Menu", and wait for the weapon window to appear on the left side of the screen. It starts with three pictures of the Covenant Carbine, followed by two pictures of the Fuel Rod Gun. The second Full Rod Gun is the trigger picture; press "Left". Music is out of synch this time, but itīs hard to miss the right moment.
Gallery:
"Chibi MC" by Kim "Mugetsu" Hufnagel
"Chibi Master Chief" by Doug Smith
"One One Se7en" by Andreas Aronsson

Back to the Main Menu. Enter "Bonus Materials" and highlight "Gameographies".
In a window on the right, some renders of Prophets in blue robes are shown. Then, from the seventh(!) one on, they wear red robes. Press "Right" as soon as you see the first red Prophet.
Gallery:
"Prey/Pray" by Greggory Buckey
"Razorback PT" by Diogo Barbosa
"Cortana" by Eric Rodrigues
"MC Bringinī the Ruckus" by Jason Borne

Again in the "Bonus Materials" menu, highlight "Main Menu", look for the rotating 3D screen at the bottom left.
When the flag-carrying "Blue" passes the camera for the second time, press "Left".
Gallery:
"The Lady Spartan" by Michael Russell
"Mini Chief" by Andreas Aronsson
"My Obsessions" by Tina Leyk
"Untitled" by Chad Armstrong

In the Main Menu, highlight "Bonus Materials". A tiny window to the left shows some vehicles. Wait for the last pelican, press "Left".
Gallery:
"Halo Deep Freeze" by Daniel Conway
"Hostilities" by Jay Faircloth
"Untitled" by Olaf Kasper
"Know Thy Enemy" by Ian Mankowski

The other Main Menu gallery seems to be triggered by a combination of actions; Iīm not quite sure how it works exactly, but I try to explain the ways it worked for me. The trigger moment is during or right after the blue vertical window disappears; it shows something like a flight over a snowy canyon.
It doesnīt really matter wich menu point is selected, but it seems to be important that "Behind the Scenes" is getting touched twice, and the cursor is coming from below (from "Developing the Game") the second time.
It worked, while having "Behind" selected, by just pressing Right and Left once, but it was extremely difficult to find the right moment.
A more promising way was to repeatingly pressing the Left and Right button, quickly alternating between "Developing" and "Behind".
Continiously pressing Left worked aswell, but it has to be done quick because the cursor passes two "useless" menu points.
Mister Chief gallery:
(by Frank O`Connor)
"Hot Tub Guy"
"If MC Had a Game..."
"Halo / Halo 2"
"New Colors"
"LoRez"
"Scream"
"Evil Mister Chief"
"Behind the Scenes"

Apologies to anyone who had a hard time reading this; my english vocabulary is limited ;)
